We first met our Elisabeth Anne on September 3. And we love her!
Shortly after Miriam was born my husband summarized our transition to parenthood by saying something about less sleep and more joy. At 4:00 each morning when little Elisabeth is deciding if she’s up for a little more sleep before the day begins I’m reminded that being a mother was never meant to be all about me. In a very small way she makes me die to myself, because of course, I would choose to sleep right then. And she begins to reveal the secret that there is more joy on the other side of death than we ever dreamed possible.
