Do you ever find it hard, even talking with other Christian friends, to get to the point where you’re really encouraging each other spiritually? Here are a few lists of questions I came across to help us get there!
These first questions are from a book called Why Small Groups? and are in the chapter John Loftness wrote on Fellowship:
- How is God working in your life right now?
- How did that event [whatever you're friend just told you about] affect you?
- What do you think you can learn from that?
And this group of questions were on the GirlTalk blog several years ago as suggested questions for fellowship or spiritual accountability:
- Describe your current practice of the spiritual disciplines
- What is a passage of Scripture you have been meditating on recently?
- What fruit of the Spirit are you cultivating?
- What sin are you seeking to weaken?
- How can I pray for you?
- Here is an evidence of grace I observe in your life…
- How are you seeking to grow in biblical femininity?
- How are you preaching the gospel to yourself daily?
Obviously, you have to pick which questions are appropriate for each situation, but it’s helpful to think about ways to get a friendship with another believer past the superficial stage.
What questions have you found helpful to deepen relationships?
