Ephesians 5:22-6:9 gives us instruction on submitting to our husbands, our parents, and the people we work for. We all know it’s much easier to talk about these things than to do them. Here are a couple of helpful questions from David Powlison for us to ask ourselves (or a close friend or accountability partner) as we strive to apply those passages:
- How can I consistently demonstrate — with my words, actions, and attitudes — the respect, honor and submission due the person God has placed over me?
- How am I disrespectful, contrary, headstrong, lazy, or manipulative?
Ephesians takes hold of you: if you would fear Christ, fear your husband; if you would obey the Lord, obey your parents; if you would serve the Lord, serve your master.
